Stepping stones lead you around the garden
The client had had a conservatory added to her home and now wanted to address the garden. She wanted to keep some lawn for faithful dog Ben although was happy to lose a little of this area in order to create more usable space for herself. The client was a keen fan of flora and wanted to incorporate a pretty array of flowers as well as new seating areas.

Before: some grass and an uninspiring patio After: new sleeper paths, limestone patios and beautiful planting

The two new patios linked together really well and were finished off with beautiful mixed planting.
The  existing lawn was kept but reduced in size to allow for more interesting and usable features to be incorporated. The soul-less old patio was replaced with a contermporary new limestone patio, perfect for a morning coffee. To the side of this area trellis panels and an archway entrance were built to screen an area for the wheely bins. The trellis was planted with some lovely honeysuckle which will both cover the trellis and hide the bins but also provide a nice fragrance.

The same limestone slabs as used in the patio were placed in the lawn to encourage you to explore the rest of the garden. A second patio was created using the limestone again, in a sunny corner of the garden. Further screening was built around this area for privacy.

The existing fence was given a fresh coat of paint to bring it up to the standard of the rest of the garden and create a lovely back drop to the beautiful new planting.
Stepping stones in the lawn lead from the main patio. Trellis hides the bin area.

Path leading to the new sunny patio A path was created around the conservatory using granite effect edging blocks, timber effect sleepers and Cotswold Cream gravel. The planting was a mix of trees and shrubs such as Sorbus aucuparia, acer "Bloodgood", Magnolia lilliflora Nigra and Escallonia rubra creating a permanent structure with lovely colours. This was complemented by herbaceous planting such as mecanopsis, digitalis and geraniums.
Acers were part of the soft new planting scheme
