A large informal garden in Dunblane y

A Garden With a View in Aberfeldy

The Brief:

The clients had a huge garden. The first area of concern was the front garden which had recently had a new driveway built along with a new deck area. Between these were large expanses of lawn lined with large boulders and nothing of great interest. The clients wanted the focus to the view beyond as well as some interest being added to the garden.

The Design:

Due to the size of the garden it was split into three phases. Phase 1 tackled the front garden. It was decided that one of the rows of boulders needed to be moved to open the garden up. This created a proper lawn area and with substantial planting created a secret garden feel. A row of cherry trees either side of the main path created an avenue leading to the deck and a journey around the garden. This resulted in the view being the focal point from the deck rather than looking straight over to the driveway.

A Contemporary Garden for Entertaining in Tullibody

The Brief:

The clients wanted a contemporary garden which they could use for relaxing and entertaining. They wanted a central seating point along with a BBQ area and to keep some lawn. The design would need to be low maintenance.

The Design:

A bespoke seating area was designed, incorporating lighting, planting and a white render/timber finish. A similarly finished BBQ area was designed to complement the seating. Straight lines and symmetry are key to this design with a central, slate path dividing the lawn and lined with stylish contemporary containers. At the side of each lawn is a raised bed finished with sleepers, complemented by seating made from sleepers at the BBQ area. Two existing palm trees, underlit, are the focal point of this design, placed either side of the BBQ. Planting is low maintenance and includes structural planting such as bamboos, phormium, agave and the palm tree. Colour is added through herbaceous such as cynara cardunculus, alliums and primula vialii. Lighting and garden speakers are included in the design meaning the garden can be used into the evening, perfect for entertaining.

This client in Dollar required a shady border in their large garden redesigning. We provided a plan of what plants would suit the conditions and how they would all sit together.
